Anger is an integral part of our everyday lives, from the minor frustrations and irritations to outbursts and rage, which have a disruptive effect on our lives. It is important to understand anger and learn how to express it appropriately and effectively. When faced with anger producing solutions, it is essential to remain calm, yet assertive, rather than passive or aggressive. Anger could be a healthy and normal emotion, providing the energy to cope with emotional or physical threats. Anger aids us in raising our level of self-awareness and mobilising us when changes need to be made or when injustices need to be dealt with. Research indicated that excessive anger is very destructive and detrimental to our health. Excessive anger may also destroy relationships, careers, health and inner peace. |
