MODULE 1: SELF-AWARENESS

Introducing Emotional intelligence

Emotional Intelligence has previously been called “character”, “personality” or “soft skills”. In the United States of America leading companies introduce emotional intelligence skills as a vital component of any successful organisation's management philosophy. It is generally accepted that Emotional Intelligence is a pre-requisite for all management training. Employers have come to the conclusion that emotionally intelligent people are a great asset to any company. This conclusion is based on extensive research.

Emotional Intelligence consists of understanding your own emotions and the emotions of others and being able to manage such emotions effectively in a way that improves your personal power and productivity.

Emotional Intelligence is essential when it comes to leadership. In fact, the higher you move up in the hierarchy of an organisation, the more important Emotional Intelligence become. At the same time the importance of the technical and intellectual abilities seem to decrease.

Emotional Intelligence is a multi-dimentional concept and therefore consists of 9 separate training units. The first in a series of modules is SELF-AWARENESS
